On August 26th 2010 the first international BiReCon event took place in London, UK, as the first day of the weekend-long international BiCon. The event occurred on the day before BiCon 2010 and 10ICB. Those who attended the first national BiReCon in 2008 will know that it is an event which brings together researchers and writers with activists, organisations and members of the bi community.
This year a number of prominent international writers, researchers and activists presented their work. There were keynote talks from Robyn Ochs (from the Bisexual Resource Center, and author of Getting Bi), Serena Anderlini D’Onofrio (author of many works on bisexuality, and most recently Gaia and the New Politics of Love), Eric Anderson from the University of Bath and John Sylla from the American Institute of Bisexuality on the the future of bisexual research and theory. We also be show-cased the work on bisexuality that is currently happening in the UK.
A video overview of the event is available here.
The event has been written up as a special issue of the Journal of Bisexuality here.
